I don't know whether or not you've been paying attention to it, but some 
time very soon (weeks, not months), we will change to server side avatar 
textures; when that happens, _all_ avatars will appear an untextured 
grey on all viewers that don't support it, and those users avatars will 
be clouds to anyone running on a viewer that does support it.

Supporting mesh and moap is great, and I hope that you complete that 
successfully, but I strongly suspect that if you don't get server side 
baking done quickly, you'll have no SL users left in short order.
